Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a phone line?
You don’t need a phone line for our security systems. We provide a variety of cellular devices that operate on the Verizon network, offering reliable communication. Cellular devices are often a more secure option than landlines, as they cannot be physically cut. Additionally, with plans starting as low as $10 per month, they are typically more cost-effective than traditional phone lines.
Can I activate my security system with my smart phone?
Absolutely! You can conveniently control your security system through your smartphone using our intuitive apps, alarm.com and alarmdealer.com. These user-friendly applications allow you to operate your system from any location with mobile service.
Do you offer Home Automation?
Yes, we offer Home Automation solutions through our latest line, 2gig, powered by Alarm.com. This system is user-friendly and straightforward, designed for simplicity and ease of use. It’s flexible too – start with the basic setup and expand as needed to transition into a fully automated home or business.
Do your alarm systems have fire protection?
Yes, we can add fire protection to our alarm systems in almost all situations. For homeowners, we provide an advantageous offer: if you purchase the smoke detectors from us, we’ll install them without any additional monthly fees. This is a notable benefit as most companies typically charge extra for this service.
Do you offer low temperature alerts?
Coming home to frozen water lines is a situation we all want to avoid. To help prevent this, we offer temperature sensors that can be installed to alert you if the temperature in your house drops below a predetermined level, ensuring you’re always informed and your home is protected.
Can I be warned about a failing sump pump?
Certainly! To prevent the risk of basement flooding due to a failing sump pump, we can integrate a water sensor into your security system. This sensor, often referred to as a ‘water bug’, is designed to alert you when it detects rising water levels, indicating a potential pump failure. This early warning system can be a crucial safeguard to protect your basement from water damage.
Is carbon monoxide detection available?
Yes, carbon monoxide detection is available and can be seamlessly integrated into your security system. Carbon monoxide, an odorless and potentially lethal gas, can be reliably detected with our detectors. We also offer standalone hardwired and wireless options for convenient installation.
How much does a security system cost?
The cost of a security system can differ based on the size of your property and your specific security needs. Our basic package includes two door contacts, a motion detector, a keypad, a control panel, an inside siren, and a battery backup. This package can be professionally installed in your home or business for just $99.
What ongoing costs are required for a security system?
At Central Ohio Security, we strive for affordability and transparency in our pricing. Our 24-hour monitoring service, available for both homes and businesses, is priced at $16 per month. For an added layer of security, we offer cellular backup at an extra $14 per month, which also grants access to our smartphone app. For a comprehensive solution, our full home automation package, inclusive of 24-hour monitoring and app access, is available at $35 per month.
Can I use a security system that was installed by another company?
Absolutely! If you’re not currently bound by a contract, we can seamlessly transition your existing security system to our services at the same competitive rate we offer all our clients. In most instances, we can utilize the majority, if not all, of the equipment you already own. Why continue paying more for monitoring when you have the option to save with us?
Why are Central Ohio Security's rates lower than other providers?
At Central Ohio Security, we intentionally set our rates lower than other providers, and the reason is straightforward. While monitoring companies generally charge all alarm companies a similar monthly fee per customer, it’s up to us, the alarm company, to determine the price we charge our customers. Our philosophy is to earn a modest amount from each customer rather than a large sum. This approach has been the cornerstone of our business for more than 40 years, contributing to our strength and steady growth as a company.
